History

Initially, the Industrial Court (Gujarat) at Ahmedabad was established vide Resolution No.ICE/1060/9512/I dtd. 13/08/1960 (Resolution of Education and Labour Department). The Industrial Court was established with the post of President and vide Resolution No. ICE/ 1064/9174/T dt. 07-03-1964 Labor Courts were established. And vide Government Resolution No.MKM-12-2993-45-V, dtd. 09/01/2003, the Industrial and Labour Courts were under the control of Labour and Employment Department.

Thenafter, vide Legal Department’s Notification No.HCT-102010-942-D dtd. 30/12/2013, the Industrial and Labour Courts of the State of Gujarat were put under the explicit administrative control of the High Court of Gujarat and Legal Department respectively.

At present in Gujarat, the President, Industrial Court is the Head of the Department and 10 Industrial Courts are functioning in the different Districts. While, 41 Labour Courts are functioning at different Districts of Gujarat.

The President, Industrial Court (Gujarat), Ahmedabad (in the cadre of Principal District Judge ) is Head of the Department.
